Version 3 or earlier will not run on Windows Vista

Microsoft introduced many new changes and security features in Vista which do not allow some
programs to run which ran on Windows XP or earlier systems. The Complete Course Version 3 may
not autorun on Vista (it may!) If it does not, use Windows Explorer to list the contents of the CD and
click on Ccsetup.exe. This will allow the course to install.

Version 4 runs on Vista

Version 2 (or Fast-track) will not run on Windows XP

This is a Microsoft induced problem. To solve, run the Program Compatibility Wizard :

Click START
All Programs
Accessories
Program Compatibility Wizard
Find the program from the list and click Next on all screens EXCEPT for previous operating
system; there select 98/ME. The program should run OK from then on.

This is a problem with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, not the Complete Course

We suggest buy the upgrade to Version 3.0 for £20.00

Will The Complete Course / Fast-track run on Apple MAC, TV CD player!

It will run only on a PC running Windows 95 or later. It will run on an Apple if there
is a Windows emulator program such as Winsoft but they are expensive.

How do I take the exams to get a certificate?

There are exams and exercises for Day Skipper and Yachtmaster on the CD. To get a
certificate you must do a complete shorebased course however the RYA program
does not require a certificate to do a practical course. It requires a certificate OR
equivalent knowledge which comes from the CD

Meridian SeaTrak, Maptech, Neptune, or exercises are not available when I click on
them (Version 3)

Have you installed them and are they in the default locations? The Complete Course
expects to see them in the C:\ drive and in set locations in Program Files. If they have
been installed in different locations by the user, the user must locate them manually
when requested. (Only one customer has not installed in the expected location and
one did not install them out of 3000)

Seatrak is on CD1, Maptech, Neptune and exercises are on CD2

The window does not fill the screen (Versions 2 and 3)

The program uses a 800 x 600 pixel window and does not change to fill the display
window. To make the window fill the screen change the screen resolution by right
clicking the desktop, select properties then select an appropriate resolution at bottom
left.

All pages have scroll bars (Versions 2 and 3) and I cannot see the icons on the bottom of the screen.

The font size is probably selected to Large Size. Change to small size by right
clicking on the desk top, select properties then Advanced. Select small fonts and click OK.

How do I get to a page I want? I takes a long time to click on Next

Click on the Contents Icon at the bottom of each screen and select the appropriate
page. Click on the + sign to expand the list by each book and - to reduce it again
(standard Windows convention).

Alternatively use the Bookmark function which is explained in the introduction on the
course. This allows the user to mark a page and go straight to it.

How do I run The Complete Course and Exercises from the DVD (Version 2)?

To run The Complete Course:-

Open Windows Explorer Select the DVD Drive with The Complete Course and double click on The Complete Course.exe.

To run the exercises:

Open Windows Explorer Select the DVD drive, double click either Day Skipper or Yachtmaster
Exercises and the double click the appropriate exercise. For Colregs Questions, just click on Colregs
Questions.exe on the DVD.

To run programs from DVD in Version 4

Open Windows Explorer and click on the DVD drive

Then to run

The Complete Course double left click on The Complete Course.EXE
Colregs Questions double left click on Colregs Questions.EXE
Day Skipper Exercises double left click on Day Skipper Exercises folder
double left click on the appropriate exercise
Yachtmaster Exercises double left click on Yachtmaster Exercises folder
double left click on the appropriate exercise

Neptune Tidal Heights, Neptune Planner and Meridian Chartplotter must all be installed to work

The Complete Course Version 4 and Windows 98/ME

Version 4 has an upgraded installer which works on Windows XP and Vista.
However, it may not always work on previous versions of Windows.
The splash screen will open correctly on autorun but nothing happens when the Install button is clicked.
To install on these systems (Microsoft does not support them anymore) open Windows Explorer and Click on the DVD drive:

Yachtmaster Exercises double left click on setupYM.exe
Colregs Questions double left click on setupcol.exe
Neptune Tidal Heights double left click on uk-tides-setup.exe

Meridian Chartplotter double left click on the Meridian Folder
double left click on Installer.exe
